The Mighty Willow were as pumped as ever for the away trip to the team who were unbeaten at the top of the league.

Just over one minute into the match the Mitre keeper sliced his clearance only to find Daryl Richards in the middle of the park who took one touch and shot from about 40 yards to find the top left corner of the net, great goal and a great start to a match that the visitors needed to win......0-1.

Willow piled on the preasure as the heavens opened and the freezen rain felt like ice as it landed, a slippery ball and some poor defending from the home side let the visitors in again, Gary Oldham converted from long range to make it 0-2.

The Mighty Willow could smell blood, victory and 3 points as they pushed for a 3rd and long clearance from the keeper and poor defending let Gary Oldham in for his second of the match, 0-3. Daryl Richards made it 0-4 with another long range effort after some calamity defending and goal keeping.

The second half the Gaffa warned that the home side would come good and that we had to be ready. The weather just go worse and worse but the Willow stood their ground with wave after wave of attack from The Mitre, 5 or 6 times they came close within 15 minutes of the restart but some outstanding goal keeping and brave last ditch defending kept the scoreline at 0-4.

Gary Oldham made it 0-5 after some good attacking play and Tim Jones rounded the perfect 3 points off with a sharp finish from 18 yards.

Overall this was a magnificent performance by every player in the team and an excellent display of grass roots football. The unbeaten Mitre who still remain top of the league by virtue of games played, were well and truly beaten. The Mighty Willow were hungrier than ever for the 3 points and dinner was served on a silver platter with the main course being the 3 points they desired.

Although the scoreline was not what the Gaffa expected before the match and the weather and poor Mitre keeping played a significant part, he is exstatic with the result and hopes that the team can push on from this next week when they face a unknown side, Shyam.

The key word for this coming Saturday is "Focus"!!

Man of the match was very difficult to pick this week as the whole team were amazing. The defence stood strong with some clearances off the line and last ditch defending. The midfield worked very hard and the strikers tried everything in the book. However, man of the match goes to the Goal Keeper who made some vital top draw saves to keep the Willow's 1st clean sheet of the season.
